Young volunteers and VSO workers have taken bats and balls and other rounders kit with them and introduced it to schools as a new sports activity in various parts of the continent.

The initiative created by these young people has proved a great success, especially with those for whom this has given them the opportunity to play the game of rounders for the first time. The obvious enjoyment on the faces of those we have seen playing rounders in bush villages, is testament to the fact that rounders is such a great and inclusive game. The game appeals to all ages, male and female, and to varying levels of fitness and it’s versatility means it can be played with the minimum of equipment and facilities.

We’d love to encourage more initiatives like this and will try and help those young people travelling to Africa who want to take some bats and balls with them, please contact us on info@wsandl.co.uk.
